How to Test a Solo Ad Vendor
A vendor test should answer a narrow question: does this audience produce acceptable behavior and economics through a funnel you understand?
Use one stable funnel
Do not redesign the landing page halfway through a vendor test unless something is broken. Otherwise you cannot tell which change drove the result.
Capture baseline data
Know your normal opt-in and sales performance from other traffic sources if possible.
Measure traffic indicators
- Unique clicks
- Country mix
- Repeat-click behavior
- Landing-page engagement
- Opt-in rate
- Invalid or suspicious traffic signals from your tracker
Measure business indicators
- Cost per lead
- Cost per acquisition
- Immediate revenue
- Follow-up revenue
- Refund/chargeback behavior where relevant
Compare providers fairly
Use comparable offers, pages, attribution windows and conversion definitions.
Decide: repeat, revise or stop
Repeat when the data is promising and interpretable. Revise the funnel when traffic appears valid but conversion is weak. Stop or challenge the delivery when the traffic materially misses agreed criteria.
