Solo Ad ROI: How to Measure a Campaign
ROI is not the same as opt-in rate. A campaign can collect many leads and still lose money, or look weak on the first day and produce value through follow-up.
Core formulas
| Metric | Formula |
|---|---|
| CPC | Spend ÷ unique clicks |
| Opt-in rate | Leads ÷ landing-page visitors |
| CPL | Spend ÷ leads |
| CPA | Spend ÷ customers |
| Immediate ROAS | Revenue ÷ ad spend |
Separate traffic from funnel performance
If the geography and engagement look reasonable but the landing page converts poorly, the problem may be the funnel rather than the provider.
Count follow-up carefully
If leads purchase later through email, attribute that revenue consistently. Do not cherry-pick late sales for one traffic source while ignoring them for another.
Know your stop rule
Before launching, define what would make you pause, revise or scale the campaign. That reduces emotional decision-making after the spend is committed.
Scale only after repeatability
One profitable test is encouraging, not proof that economics will remain identical at larger volumes.
