Are Solo Ads Worth It? A Campaign-Economics Answer
Solo ads are worth testing when the provider's audience fits your offer and you can measure the downstream funnel. They are not automatically worth it simply because the clicks are inexpensive.
The wrong question
“Do solo ads work?” hides the variables that matter. A better question is whether a specific provider, audience, offer, funnel and price create acceptable economics.
What to measure
- Cost per unique click
- Opt-in rate
- Cost per lead
- Sales conversion rate
- Cost per acquisition
- Revenue per lead
- Follow-up revenue over time
When solo ads are more promising
They are easier to evaluate when you have a relevant lead magnet or offer, a focused landing page, independent tracking and enough email follow-up to monetize leads beyond the first visit.
When they are a bad idea
Avoid scaling when the offer is unrelated to the audience, the funnel is untracked, the first test produced poor-quality engagement or you are depending on guaranteed sales.
Bottom line
Treat solo ads as a measurable traffic channel, not a business model by themselves.
